2min of your time:
Early morning driving hours…the kind where it’s dark like 1am but actually 630am can be a lot of fun. During these hours, the traffic is lighter and there’s less things to be distracted with…usually.

As my daughter and I, were making our way down the interstate I could feel our vehicle getting closer and closer to the one in the lane just beside us. I eventually said, “hey!” Which is the universal way of getting someone’s attention. She snapped out of the zone and apologized right away. She said, “I was looking at the reflective triangle on the back of the vehicle.” I knew exactly what she was referring to because I was looking at the same thing.

Hmmmmmm….

With a desire to take this moment and turn it into a learning one I reminded her that whatever she’s looking at she’ll eventually steer closer towards. If you focus on oncoming traffic, you’ll get closer to it. If you focus on the vehicle in front of you, you’ll get closer to it…it’s just the way it works. I finished by saying, “do you know why I’m always so close to mommy? Because I’m always looking at her.” She laughed and just shook her head.

So here’s a question…what are you looking at?

Just like with driving, you’ll get closer to the things you’re looking at in life. If you’re looking for good things….you’ll find it. If you’re looking for what’s wrong in the world…that wrong will find you. If you’re looking for opportunity and blessings…they’ll get closer. If you’re looking for God…guess what?

In John 12, Jesus says, “For when you look at me you are seeing the One who sent me.”

One of the best ways to get closer to God is by looking at Jesus. Not because you make God move, but because you actually steer closer to Him. Just like it works on the road, it works in life. Be intentional about what your looking at and what you’re looking for.

The more you look, the closer you’ll get.
